Dr. Castelli joined Amicus in July 2005 and currently serves as Chief Development Officer. He has more than 20 years of experience in the biotechnology and orphan drug industry, with a focus on rare disease research and the development of medicines from discovery through global market authorization. In his current role, Dr. Castelli provides strategic leadership across Amicus’s research and development organization, with direct oversight of Science, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Research, Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs. During his tenure at Amicus, he has held leadership responsibility across other functions including program management, portfolio strategy, and the gene therapy business. Prior to joining Amicus, Dr. Castelli was a healthcare strategy consultant at Health Advances LLC and worked in business development at Neose Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He holds a B.S. from West Chester University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and is an author on numerous scientific publications and patents in the field of rare disease drug development.
